Tips for Virtual Career Centers during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic

coronavirus COVID19 work-from-home remote career services

Has the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic affected your school, career/student services, and on-campus recruitment processes yet? We are mindful of the challenges this unique situation is placing on schools and employers and understand that you will need to devote substantial time and effort to navigating these uncharted waters. As travels bans and restrictions increase, we are working closely with our partners to develop best practices and new ways to connect with students virtually. Here are a few solutions:

Are you working remotely with travel restrictions?

GradLeaders Career Center can be used anywhere. If you’re not in your office or on campus you can still login from home or on an iPad. Your students and employers can also login from anywhere on-the-go via the mobile-responsive web application.

Not able to host Spring career fairs or company events?

GradLeaders can help you virtually connect employers with best-fit students who are still seeking full-time jobs and internships. Beyond the job board and JobMatch, GradLeaders offers other virtual tools that can help you match job-seekers with opportunities. Create custom resume books for specific employers, industries and roles. Give employers access to self-serve resume databases where they can proactively search for right-fit talent. Or utilize the same OCR and Company Event modules to schedule and manage sign-ups for virtual recruiting events and employer info sessions.

Not offering face-to-face advising or career services?

Virtual advising appointments and workshops can also be setup and managed through GradLeaders Career Center. Just use an external virtual meeting tool to replace in-person room locations and meeting details with the virtual credentials. Then open up meetings for signups, automatically send reminder emails and texts, and track attendance on specific career development topics virtually.

Missing out on Spring expos, tradeshows, conference and other industry networking opportunities?

Although we too were forced to cancel our Connections 2020 Conference, we still plan on hosting smaller regional events throughout the year. Please be on the lookout for future Focus Forum details as well as the Save the Date for Connections 2021.   As we further develop quality programming and virtual networking opportunities, we will be in communication.
